Tools

Quantitative tools are an integral part of a good investment manager’s business. Sophisticated or simple, these tools allow a manager to create a disciplined, rules based approach to investments. Systematic management removes much of the emotion to investing, avoiding the common pitfalls of the buy/sell decision process. The basis for tools is good information. The tools here range from simple account and portfolio management to a sophisticated simulator that uses your input to test how well the asset allocation would perform.

The Account tab allows you to create an account and maintain accounts that you have already created. An account is the first step in the investment process. Your account records important personal information used in contacting you, identifies the custodian you wish to use and details your financial situation. The account page also helps us determine your investment objective; whether you are a retired individual looking for a certain yield on your investments or someone new to investing, looking to grow assets.

The Allocation tab provides a place to choose from model portfolios provided by us, generating a customized asset allocation from your investment objective and risk profile or building a portfolio of your own. Portfolios are linked to an account, and multiple portfolios for a single account can be created; an IRA for your retirement needs, a brokerage portfolio for your investment ideas or a trust to grow assets for future generations. Each portfolio can be maintained over time and you can watch assets grow.

The Simulation tab takes portfolios and shows how they have or would have performed over time producing statistics useful in analyzing the results and tracking your portfolio against benchmarks, other investors and our separately managed accounts. Creating a realistic simulation of an investing strategy is one of the important steps in quantitative asset management. The pattern of returns from the asset allocation provides statistics that characterizes the portfolio and allows for direct comparisons.
